Dishonored 2

I started playing Dishonored 2.

First thing I had to do was to go into Settings > Visuals > Advanced Settings and turn V-Sync off. Otherwise, the mouse movement was all sluggish and useless.

I think I'll try in Hard Mode. I usually really like Low Level Hell, and tend to find the game too easy in the last leg, so probably starting with Hard would be ok for me. I even wonder if I shouldn't try Very Hard from the get go. Let's start in Hard.

I am having other mouse issues. I sometimes can't watch all over myself, my mouse can't make a full 360, I'm stuck at some points. It's like the (hidden) cursor can't go past a certain point. This is nasty, as I can't turn, nor look around easily. If I can't find a way to fix this, I'll probably have to cancel playing the game.

I had to increase mouse sensitivity to higher than what I usually like, so when I move the mouse a bit, it actually moves the look more, allowing me to do about 1 or 2 360° turns before it gets locked again. Not perfect, but a bit better.

I know that voice...

After fleeing my palace, I'm into Dunwall.

The fact that I sometimes can't completely turn around is weird. I mostly can deal around it, but I can see how, in the heat of the moment, it's going to get frustrating.

I can't even look down on the first try, the camera is also blocked at eye level.

I did some parkour and got up to what I think is the Black Pony Club. I played a bit; not being able to fully do a 360 or look up or down easily is tiring. The game looks good and I want to play it, so I'll give it a try, but I'd really like to be able to fix that mouse issue.

Day Two

Playing the day after. I did try to change some settings, to see if it would fix my mouse issue.

I kept playing a bit. The game is fun, but I still want to fix that mouse bug.

Finished visiting Dunwall, I'm starting to get some muscle memory into that game. Now on to the next mission.

Let's get to the second city.

I think I found a way around the mouse issue. I set the sensitivity to something very low at the Ubuntu-level, and something very high in game. That means that when I move the mouse, it moves really slowly by default, but in game it's multiplied a lot. That way I can play correctly, but have very slow mouse otherwise. I guess I'll have to find the right balance so it's not agonizingly slow.

That map, with all its Bonecharm and Runes everywhere. I'll be picking them all, before I start doing the main quest.

Found this. Looks like the solution to a riddle.

image-20250325155546340

I knew it.

Day 3

I have parkoured over the whole city map. I thought it was an open world kind of thing and I could go wherever I wanted, but it turned out to be more like a game level. So I started again from the beginning and started to loot every single building, methodically.

image-20250325222427975

And I've methodically finished the level.

image-20250325222451443

Apparently, I wasn't as stealthy as I imagined. Not sure what it gives me to be stealthy or lethal.

image-20250325230750667

I'm now exploring a abandoned asylum.

image-20250327220832553

Got a guard buggy behind a wall.

image-20250327224937012

I am now making some serum to cure an infected doctor.

image-20250327230325340

Now going to the Clockwork Mansion. I assume the mad scientist I need to kill and the mad scientist I need to save are the same person.

I've finished the first part of the level with ease. This time I didn't try to put to sleep all guards when I encounter them. I instead went toward the objectives and grabbing the Runes and Bonecharms. Turns out that by doing so I also found interesting angles to put all guards out of service.

The domino power with a sleep dart is pretty powerful, same as the triple stun mine behind a door. I open the door, guards are alerted and they all come in the chokepoint.

Now I have to traverse another part of town. I'm getting the Domino power, allowing me to link several guards and what happens to one happens to another, which is pretty neat. The game is getting a bit easier, but also a bit more enjoyable as I can just more easily cruise through the levels.

Interesting, the house is moving, like a magician house, and now I'm gonna fight something not human, but a construct.

image-20250328213833081

The fact that we can move in the space between the changes of decor is incredible. This is a very memorable scene. The whole room moves when you pull levers, to re arrange it into a new version, and you can see it moving.

image-20250328235339810

I cured Jindosh with electroshock. This was a weird puzzle, not very clear.

image-20250329000519785

I managed to be non-lethal, which is good. But I had way more detection than I thought. Maybe all the clockwork machines counted. I assumed they didn't count. 8 Bodies found though, I don't know where.

image-20250329000641550

I missed a blueprint, shit.

image-20250329002044766

And here we go for a new hunt.
